21 September, 2010 - The German automaker BMW has launched a refreshed version of its stunning SUV, BMW X5 in India, today. The revamped version of the SUV has got new front face and new engine under its bonnet. The BMW X5 now comes in two variants i.e. BMW X5 xDrive30d and BMW X5 xDrive50i with a price tag of Rs 52.99 lakh and 69.5 lakh (ex-showroom,Delhi), respectively. The xDrive30d variant churns out maximum power of 245 hp at 4000 rpm and 540 Nm of peak torque at 1750-3000 rpm with a 2993cc, 6 cylinder diesel engine while the xDrive50i develops highest power of 407 hp at 5500-6400 rpm and max torque of 600 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm through a 4395cc, 8 cylinder, petrol engine. The BMW X5 is imported as a CBU and will be available across all dealerships in India while the deliveries will be made from October, 2010.BMW X5 Description :
Overall
The mid-size luxury crossover SUV, BMW X5 50i is powered by a 4395cc, BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine that produces a max power of 407 hp at 5500-6400 rpm and develops a peak torque of 600 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. The powertrain is mated with a Steptronic 8 speed automatic transmission for better power delivery. The crossover has got disc brakes at all wheels, it is also equipped with front Double-joint spring strut axle and rear Multilink axle, Self-levelling with pneumatic type suspension fitted with Sports suspension settings.
The BMW X5 is available in India with an array of safety and security features that include Airbags for driver and front passenger, seat occupant detector, Head airbags for front and 2nd-row passengers, Side airbags for front passengers, Warning triangle with first-aid kit, Rollover Sensor, Automatic fuel pump cut-off, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Anti-lock brake system (ABC), Automatic Differential Brake (ADB-X), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with extended features, Bumper system with interchangeable crumple zones front and and rear absorbing impact at speeds up to 15 km/h, Runflat tyres, Seat belts, including automatic inertia reels,front with pyrotechnic belt tensioners and belt force limiters, rear with 3-point belts for all seats, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Integrated side-impact protection, etc.
The BMW X5 has new antilock brakes for all 4 tires and a stability system that will warn the driver if there is a danger/object that the vehicle might roll over. The IDrive system and a CD player find their place beside the glove box. Safety of the passengers has been taken care of with airbags placed in the seats in the front and airbags on the side for all the passengers.
Mileage, Average and Fuel Economy
The BMW X5 xDrive 30d is powered by a 3.0 litre, 2993cc, BMW six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with exhaust turbocharger that churns a top power of 245 hp at 4000 rpm and develops a top torque 540 Nm at 1750-3000 rpm. The SUV delivers a mileage of 5.8 kmpl in city and 10.4 kmpl on highways.The petrol variant of BMW X5, xDrive50i, is loaded with a higher 4395 cc, BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine that develops a top power of 407 hp at 5500-6400 rpm and belts out a top torque of 600 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. The SUV is mated with Steptronic 8-speed automatic transmission for maximum use of engine output. The car gives 10.4 kmpl in the city and 13.9 kmpl on highways.
